DISHAW GUITAR STUDIO WILL HAVE
FREE GUITAR WORKSHOPS AT MIC

(MIC) November 9, 2011

Dishaw Guitar Studio will provide free all day clinics for those who attend the Music Industry Conference (MIC) this Friday & Saturday (November 11-12th) at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse. Dan Dishaw and his son are Central New York natives, well known for their expertise in manufacturing of electric guitars as well as restoration of string instruments and factory authorized service with over 40 years of training and experience.

Instruments require time and dedication to learn how to play, and if your instrument is not set up properly it becomes a much more difficult task. Bring your electric/acoustic guitars, bass guitar, banjo, mandolins or any string instrument that you play and they will show you how to get the most from your instrument.

They can show you how to install your strings correctly and explain how the truss rod affects the action or playability of your instrument. They’ll describe and walk you through all the adjustments made to your instrument so that it plays effortlessly through the entire length of the fingerboard. Not only will we set the string action, but they will also have a high precision Peterson strobe tuner as well to set the bridge saddles and intonate the scale length.

There will be a big screen monitor with a slide show of the shop and some of our manufacturing techniques, including Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Machining (CAM). There will also be a select few of their guitars for sale with an amp to demo. Guitar parts, strings and accessories will be available for purchase.

Stop by Booths 3 and 4 at the MIC Trade Show and Dishaw Guitar Studio will show you how it’s done.

MIC II, Sammys on the calendar for 11/11/11
(and 11/12/11) at Oncenter in Syracuse

(Mark Bialczak/The Post-Standard)

Liz Nowak, chair of the board that presents the Syracuse Area Music Awards and Music Industry Conference loved the looks of that when she selected the weekend for next year’s Sammys and the second edition of what’s becoming trademarked as MIC (everybody say: Meet. Interact. Connect.)

The two events will take place Nov. 11 and 12, 2011, in Syracuse’s Oncenter for the second year in a row.

Nowak reports she was satisfied with year one of MIC. About 1,500 people attended the music industry conference Oct. 8 and 9 in downtown Syracuse, Nowak says. That’s about twice as many as those who registered for the first year of the now-vaunted South by Southwest Conference, which now annually draws upward of 17,000 to Texas as it heads into its 25th anniversary event in March 2011.
